NowAutoCADwillprovideusthreeoptions–AddObjects,RemoveObjectsandREName. HerewechooseAddobjects. AfterchoosingtheAddoptionwejusthavetoselectthenewobjectswetoAddandhitEnter. ToRemove objectsfromanexistingGroupwehavetogothroughthesameprocedure.Theonlydifferenceisthatinstep3wehavetochooseRemoveObjectsandthenselectobjecttoberemoved. ThereisasecondwaytoAddandRemoveobjectsfromanexistingGroup–using-GROUPcommandwith“-”infront! Theprocedureisalittlebitdifferentthough.Thistime,whenwechooseAdd(orRemove) OptionAutoCADasksusforthegroup’snameinsteadofselectingitfromthedrawing.However,oncewehavetypedtheGroup’snameeverythingelseisthesame. RenameanexistingGroup AsmentionedinthepreviouspostaboutGroups,itisgoodtoassignthemnames,inordertokeepdrawingswellarrangedandeasyforediting. Still,sometimeswemightforgettotypeinanameforourgroupwhenwecreateit,orwejustwanttochangeittosomethingthatwillmakemoresense.Todothatwearegoingtofollownext4steps: First,weclickonGroupEditbuttonortypeonthecommandlineGROUPEDIT Secondly,weselectthegroupwewanttoedit. ThistimewechooseRENameoption. AutoCADwillpromptSelectanewnameforgroupor[?]: HerewejusttypeinthenewnameandhitEnter! Renamingcanagainbedoneby-GROUPcommand,theprocedurewillbethesameasintheprevioussection. -GROUPCommand WealreadymentionedsomeofthefunctionalityofthisCommand.ApartfromAddingandRemovingobjectsfromanExistingGroupsandRenamingthem,wecanalso: Order Orderchangesthenumericalorderoftheobjectsinagroup.Thisisusefulwhencreatingtoolpaths. UponstartingthecommanditisinPositionNumbermode–Specifiesthepositionnumberoftheobjectstoreorder.Reorderingalotofobjectsisdonebyspecifyingthefirstobject’snumber. IfwechooseReviseOrder –AutoCADreversestheorderofallmembersinthegroup Explode WorksthesameasUNGROUPcommand–Deletesagroupdefinition. Note:IfyouusenormalExplodecommanditwilldeletethegroupdefinitionandalsowillexplodealltheobjects! Selectable Specifiesifagroupisselectableornot.Whenitisselectable,selectingoneobjectinthegroupwillselectthewholegroup.(WorkslikePICKSTYLE SystemVariablewhichwediscussedinthepreviouspost,butonlyfortheselectedGroup).Alsoifyouhavecreatedahugegroupandyoudon’twantsomeonetobeabletoungroupyoucanmakeitunselectable,thatwayitwillbesafefromungrouping. Note:Objectsinfrozenorlockedlayerswillnotbeselectedevenifthegroupisselectable. Create JustanotherwaytocreateaGroup. GroupManager WecanfindGroupManagerbyclickingondrop-downarrowundergroups.Orusingcommand CLASSICGROUP. UnderGroupManagerwecanfindpracticallyeverythingrelatedtoGroups–Add,RemoveObjects,Turnon/offSelectability,Find,Rename,Re-OrderandHighlight.Itisreallywellorganizedandyoucanfindeverythingrelatedtoyourgroupshere.
